The Dining Revolution Starts on 2nd September: TasteBuddy is Here!

TasteBuddy launches on 2nd September: the UK’s first dining ecosystem for allergies, intolerances and dietary needs. Join the movement for safe, inclusive dining.

For as long as I can remember, eating out has been complicated. As someone diagnosed with Coeliac Disease at 18 months, every meal has been a calculation scanning menus, second-guessing staff and wondering if this time will be safe. I know I’m not alone. Millions of people across the UK live with food allergies, intolerances, or dietary requirements that make something as simple as having dinner with friends a stressful gamble.

That’s why, during my transplant recovery, I realised no one was going to fix this. So, I built TasteBuddy.

On 2nd September, we launch the UK’s first comprehensive dining ecosystem for people with dietary requirements. But this is more than an app launch. This is a movement.

What is TasteBuddy?

TasteBuddy connects three worlds: users, restaurants and community, to make dining inclusive, safe and empowering. Whether you’re gluten-free, nut-free, vegan, managing multiple allergens, or know people that are, the app puts clarity and confidence in your hands.

Key Features at Launch:

•Filter by dietary needs: Tell TasteBuddy your requirements (from the 14 major allergens to lifestyle choices) and instantly discover allergy-friendly restaurants in the UK where you can dine confidently.

•Cross-contamination matrix: Go beyond menus - see how restaurants handle allergen safety in the kitchen.

•Community reviews: Hear directly from others who share your needs, and share your own dining experiences to guide the next diner.

•Verified Advocates: Restaurants that commit to transparency and inclusion earn ‘Verified Advocate’ status, showing diners, they are truly welcome.

•Social freedom: Unlock the ability to say “yes” to plans without worry and create memories that aren’t overshadowed by stress.

This isn’t about restriction. It’s about freedom. Freedom to dine out, freedom to connect, freedom to belong.

Why This Matters

Dining is about connection, not compromise. Yet too often, people with food allergies or intolerances feel excluded, anxious, or like a burden. TasteBuddy flips the script.

For diners, it means eating out with confidence, not compromise.

For restaurants, becoming a Verified Advocate means turning inclusion into growth and being known as a place that welcomes everyone.

For the community, it means collective change - proof that transparency, safety and inclusion can reshape an entire industry.

For context: 1 in 5 people in the UK report living with a food allergy or intolerance (Food Standards Agency).

The Power of a Movement

When you use the TasteBuddy app, you’re not just looking fora restaurant … you’re joining a movement for dining equality. Every search, every review, every shared meal builds momentum.

Together, we are saying:

👉 Dining is a right, not a privilege.

This isn’t about one app. It’s about rewriting how the UK approaches food, safety, and belonging.

What’s Next

Launch is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we’ll be

• Expanding coverage across the UK, from London to Manchester, Brighton to Edinburgh.

• Growing our TasteBuddy Verified Advocates network of restaurants who commit to transparency and inclusion.

• Adding new features to make the experience even more personalised and community driven.

• Creating a space where people with dietary requirements no longer have to sit on the sidelines, because every table should feel like it was set for you.
